Practical Questions Some frequently asked questions about Papillon Select Tours GROUP ARRANGEMENTS For the organization of your Papillon Tour, it is most convenient for us to work with one 'organizer' in your group. Details such as travel arrangements, arrival and departure times, special requests and the like, are much easier for us to integrate when we have all of the groups' details together at one source. BANKS In our experience, the best and most efficient way to change money is to use the local ATM machines. Not only do you not have to worry about the irregularity of European banking hours and the endless queues, you also get the best exchange rate--generally the inter-bank rate on the day. You should be sure to have your PIN number with you, and might want to check with your bank to make sure your card limit is up to the levels you expect to need during your trip (there is often a limit on how much you can withdraw from the wall in a given period). This said, be sure to have some sort of
'back-up' plan in case your card does not work everywhere. Formality Papillon Select Tours are friendly, casual affairs--you are traveling with friends and family, after all!--so bear this in mind when packing. Certainly, no need for formal attire! Remember, you set the tone of the vacation: We choose restaurants for the food and not for the cachet, so however you feel comfortable will be perfect. Weather As for the weather, we try to get a jump on summer in Italy, and to extend the season in the South of France. There is, however, always a chance of a chilly evening. So bring a wrap. We, of course, have umbrellas, but you might also want to be ready for that rare rainy day. ELECTRICITY If you are traveling with electrical appliances that do not accept 220 volts, be sure to bring along a transformer and plug adapters for the countries you will be visiting. We have hair dryers that you can use PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF Papillon Select Tours put two guides and two minibuses at your disposal. Please bear this in mind when making arrival and departure arrangements. We will do whatever we can to accommodate your group's travel plans. However, to avoid delays and unnecessary waiting, please remember that we can't be in more than two places at once!. Preferably, we would like to meet your group at 3pm or later. This gets us back to the house in time for a Champagne welcome and nibbles, and leaves us enough time for a walk around the property and perhaps the village. We cannot offer lunch on arrival days, so please make arrangements to eat before our meeting time. DIETS AND SPECIAL REQUESTS Please let us know what you like and need. E-mailing us your 'Special Requests' gives you the opportunity to allow us to 'fine tune' your holiday. TRAVEL INSURANCE It happens more often than you might imagine: last minute changes in plans that lead to trip cancellations. While we have always strongly recommended 'trip- cancellation insurance', we regularly have guests who, for an incredibly diverse number of reasons, are forced to cancel their trips, and who have no coverage. While we do our best to accommodate each situation, naturally, we cannot be as flexible as many situations demand. For this reason, we want to stress again the importance of Trip Cancellation insurance Home |
