Papillon comes back to Lucca!
We have always said that this is one of our favorite places, and that one day we would return to  show you why.  Lucca's blend of town and country; mountains and sea; worldliness and discretion are the quintessence of elegance. Her magnificent Renaissance walls (which the city fathers' have protected and turned into a most unusual city park) are in themselves worth the visit. But Lucca is much more: the town has been a independent soul throughout the annals of history; and her location brought much of that history right to her gates.

To this day, Lucca is fiercely proud.  You can sense it just walking through the streets.  History is preserved, tradition is alive; yet never do you feel, as you often do in other wonderful places, that you have stepped into the past.  On the contrary, Lucca is very much alive, as it has always been.
